DUI Academy of East Tennessee, Inc. is a state certified Prime for Life DUI school that meets all requirements of the Tennessee state and local courts. The DUI Academy was founded in 2008 by three psychologists dedicated to increasing community safety, promoting healthy families, and encouraging the individual personal growth of our clients.
Academy classes are held on a rotating basis throughout East Tennessee. Through 2011, the DUI Academy has scheduled sessions in Sevier and Knox counties. For more information about our schedule or to sign up for a class, click Class Calendar from the menu at the top of the screen.
The curriculum of the classes is based in cognitive-behavioral therapy which was founded on the idea that feelings and behaviors are caused by a person's thoughts, not on outside stimuli like people, situations and events. People may not be able to change their circumstances, but they can change how they think about them and therefore change how they feel and behave. The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy is to teach people to recognize situations in which they are most likely to drink or use drugs, avoid these circumstances if possible, and cope with other behaviors which, in this case, may lead to driving under the influence.
